From Practice to Influence

A global community of sustainability and ESG practitioners, turning implementation experience into a credible voice on policy and practice. Free to join.

Credibility

We stand for transparency, integrity, and professional responsibility in sustainability practice.

Professional integrity

Our work is grounded in real implementation experience, evidence, and professional expertise.

Independence

We operate independently of commercial and political interests.

Accountability

We take responsibility for advancing credible and responsible sustainability practice.

We exist to ensure that those doing the work help shape what comes next.

Sustainability and ESG professionals are shaping the future of business and society.

Yet too often, the people driving this work have little or no say in the systems that govern it.

SEPA aims to close that gap.

Through a strong global community, we position practitioners not only as drivers of change, but as co-creators of the standards and decisions that shape our world.

What we are

A global community built by and for the practitioners who turn sustainability commitments into reality. We connect professionals across sectors and borders, structure the insight that lives in their day-to-day work, and carry that experience into the rooms where policy and standards are decided.

Professional home

A professional home for sustainability and ESG practitioners across sectors and geographies. This is where we practice, learn, and grow together.

Advocacy platform

A constructive advocacy platform turning practitioner experience into structured outcomes. This is where we influence policy and decision makers.

Practitioner-led thought leadership

Consolidating practitioner insights into briefs, position papers, and evidence-based perspectives. This is where we innovate better furtures.

Independent association

A non-profit, independent association. Our credibility comes from implementation experience. This is our core.

How We Work

We are still building the association, and the over 1,500 practitioners from over 100 countries are central to that journey.

SEPA is founded in Copenhagen, Denmark and is being built as a global, practitioner-driven network.

We drive change by pairing local intelligence based on what happens on the groud with global insights.

Our work runs through three pillars: advocacy, where we bring practitioner insight into policy and standard-setting; insight and research, where we turn experience into briefs, guidance, and evidence; and community, where practitioners connect, learn, and navigate the realities of the work together.

Working groups are the engine of all three, bringing members across borders together around the topics that shape the profession.

National representation

Surface implementation realities, our network reaches over 100 countries.

Global & regional networks

Identify cross-border patterns and shared challenges.

Thematic groups

Mobilise expertise from Climate, Human Rights, Sustainable Finance, Biodiversity, Circularity, Geo Politics, and more.

Global positioning

Translate practice into influence, where global expertise helps local issues, and vice versa.

We move:

From Compliance and reporting → Strategic impact

From Fragmented or isolated insight → Collective intelligence

From Individual voices → A credible common voice

We don’t have to agree on everything, all we ask is that we help each other and challenge each other respectfully, advocating for a more sustainable world.
